I know that the site is supposedly independent in its coverage, yet I can't help but feel that most of the original content is highly Republican leaning. Especially with this campaign, pretty much all of the Romney coverage is softball stuff about who he'll pick for VP, the strategy he's working, how he's a great match for such and such state, or his fundraising prowess, or how he too has multiple paths to 270. You never see any scrutiny of his record either at Bain or in Massachusetts, and his history of changed positions never merits much derision. Even during the primary, he got showered with coverage of being "steady" and so forth.

Contrast that with the president, in which nearly every article seems to paint him in a negative light, especially today's about it being "too late" for him to come back and win the election. Other articles talk about his problems in this state or that state, etc.

Erin McPike is probably the worst offender, it seems like every article she writes casts Romney in a positive light. But there's other authors on there that also seem to lean towards the Republicans, like Sean Trende or Jay Cost. Actually I'd say Jay Cost is the worst offender. It sounds like he is masturbating to the thought of an Obama defeat in nearly every piece he writes.

It's not just a 2012 thing either. I used RCP to get 2008 election news, and every time I went on there I got a bad feeling about Obama's chances.. during the best year to run as a Democrat since 1932!

Was just wondering if anyone else had picked up on possible bias in the site's content.

Um yeah, the site is run by Republicans, as should be fairly obvious.

I think some of it is pro-Obama, but current real-time events are definately negative, so it seems more anti-Obama.

Even though the site is ran by a Republican I beg to differ.

It's prob the first site I go to in the morning and the coverage they provide is pretty balanced between pro and anti-coverage overall.

Ex. Here is a snapshot of converge from yesterday afternoon.

The U.S. Economy Slips Below the 'Mendoza Line' - Peter Coy, BusinessWeek
Jobs Slowdown Deals Blow to Obama - Mike Dorning, Bloomberg
Romney Didn't Keep Promises in Massachusetts - Gov. Deval Patrick, CNN

RCP just like electoral-vote.com is a pretty good website to check the numbers and know what the status of the races are. However I always avoid RCP's articles.

Guys I'm not not talking about aggregated content. I'm talking about original stuff, as in stuff written by people that work for the site.

Here's what I'm talking about. I'll break down articles from the past week into pro-Obama, anti-Obama, neutral, pro-Romney, and anti-Romney.

Pro-Obama: 0

Anti-Obama: 1
Black Friday: Has Time Run Out for Obama?

Neutral: 2
Polls Show Tight Race in Colorado, Iowa, Nevada
Obama Team Shifts From Bain to Romney as Governor

Pro-Romney: 4
Latest Romney "Day One" Ad Touts New Direction
Romney Clinches Nomination, Sharpens Attack on Obama
Is Blunt But Colorful Christie a VP Match for Romney?
Romney and the 6 Percent Solution

Anti-Romney: 0
