Mississippi is a crumy place to live, but this is getting ridiculous. At least, they haven't been acting like those methheads in Okie.

DeSoto just retracted votes.

Hehe.  Mississippi.

You would get in big trouble if you said something to the effect of:

"African-Americans voted almost entirely for Obama.

Hehe.  Blacks."

So why is ok to be bigoted toward Mississippi?

They're snobs, Harry. Bigotry, stereotyping, etc. is ok when they're doing it towards the "backwards" people.

I'd say I discriminate against my home state than any other.

NE Miss vs. the counties along the Mississippi river is amusing.

Edwards protest vote has lessened a bit - compared to Louisiana/east Texas, but I have always suspected the Louisiana/Texas/Oklahoma rural areas hate women the most.

Uh, I'm being bigoted against your horribly outdated, handwritten-and-faxed elections collection system.  I really don't know what you're talking about.
Then you could've said, "Mississippi uses an inefficient system," rather than just saying "Hehe.  Mississippi."  It just shows how deep your bigotry is that you don't even pick up on it.

You would be banned if you said such things about blacks (well not really, but people would be calling for it).

Sad I know, you're right.  I'm glad that it is no longer acceptable to make bigoted remarks about race, and it's becoming unnaceptable to be bigoted toward gays, but unfortunately being bigoted toward Southerners, especially Mississippians, is still perfectly accepted.

I thought it was pretty clear that it was a follow-up to this.  No big deal, though; I doubt you actually have read the thread, as it would take up the time you had dedicated to being needlessly offended.

or maybe we couldn't make remarks about ANY state.  All states have their positives and negatives, and it's time that it stopped being acceptable to endlessly berate some, and imply that all of their residents are stupid/poor/subhuman.

I understand what you are saying, but I really wish it was ok to be annoyed with a group of people for an objective reason...

Of course I've read the thread, but that doesn't change the fact that you made a cheapshot remark at my state.

If you said "haha African-Americans" even in a context that you thought to be completely legitimate, you know that the black leaders would be calling for your head.

Or we could stop being offended so easily. Go ahead and make comments about Colorado. We have crazies. Tancredo wants to nuke Mecca. Kobe Bryant the rapist, school shootings etc. I won't give a damn. Just laugh it off. It's all good. If it's blatantly mean-spirited and consistent, then give a damn.

So, your argument is that if I had made fun of black people instead of Mississippi's elections system, it would have been offensive?  And therefore it is wrong to make fun of the Mississippi elections system?  Seriously.

I wasn't even making fun of Mississippi itself.  In fact, relative to most things said about Mississippi, "crappy elections system" is almost a compliment.

Michigan is backwards in a manner of speaking for clinging to the auto-economy. However, is not every state "backwards" in a way, even Massachusetts?

Hey, Harry.  I like Mississippi.  But I'm the kind of clean-cut white person with a quasi-Southern accent that they're comfortable being around.

Mississippi used to be my favorite state back in second grade when I based my preferences on how the state was pronounced.
