That's a very unique race, three far-left candidates (Socialist Workers, Consumer, Communist).

What office did Pete Flaherty hold prior to running for senate?

Mayor of Pittsburgh.  Specter had been Phila DA.

It's basically a map of media markets coupled with party ID.

What type of Democrat was Pete Flaherty, Was he your typical liberal or was he more of populist or labor-friendly Democrat which I assumed he most likely was. Also was he the more conservative of the two canidates in this race.
