Please, if you would like a different citizenship, specify the country.  Also if anyone has any information on how to get dual citizenship, please share.  I for one am looking for an escape route!

Dual citizenship would be best. Lots of reedoms. The thing that pisses me off most about American citizenship is the US can then pass laws that regulate what you can do outside the US. Of course they are basically unenforcable, but that's a route I don't want to go down.

As much as I bitch about things our government does, I still believe this is the best country to live in. I would not trade my citizenship for all the money in the world.

This country will have suffered a huge loss if opebo leaves for good.

You lucky Lun!  How did you get that?  Citizenship in an EU country would be ideal for me...

Ireland is even more prudish than the US. It's even difficult to get a hold of birth control there, very very difficult to get divorced, etc.

Citizenship of Ireland is the same thing as citizenship of any other EU country.

My Grandfather was born in Dublin, so I got citizenship after my mother did.

I've got three way citizenship, but no American citizenship (yet).  I wish.  Ship opebo off to Europe, and you can have me. Smiley

I'd like dual citizenship, even though there's no way I'd qualify. I'm very happy as an American citizen, though.

dual  citizenship?  that is kind of a half-ass way of doing things, opebo.  if america is so bad just renounce your citizenship.  ah, but you still want the benefits of citizenship?  what's that old saying, 'biting the hand that feeds you'?

as another poster once pointed out, your opinions are very contrived.

No, not contrived.  It is obviously preferable to have more than one citizenship - more options!  Besides, one couldn't renounce US citizenship until one had another in hand.  Lastly, it is hard to for non-citizens to visit the US, so renouncing wouldn't be a good idea.

You really should just move somewhere else in teh US actually. I heard about some terrible prudish legislation your state might pass, which would ban all alcohol in strip clubs, ban lap dances, require that the guys be 10 feet away, it'd make them totally pointless! The best state for you is probably Nevada, they even have legal prostitution. You'd like Minneapolis a lot too, it's not hard at all to get away with prostitution there. Just watch your wallet.

I have no reason to want to renounce my citizenship. There are things I don't like about the USA, but I want to fight to improve them, not run away.

For people like opebo, I think we'd be more than happy for him to renounce his citizenship.  In order to be fair and equitable to the have-nots, I would require him to surrender all his wealth upon his departure from the country.
