The election has been canceled. We are now a parliamentary aristocracy in the midst of negotiations for a governing coalition.

If it concerned a regional Senator I would be eager to invite the participants to continue the hunger games in my approval thread, since it usually needs the highest possible turnout to get the most accurate picture. But since it is an At-Large Senate, we really don't give a damn. Tongue

It's only natural the left and right consolidate eventually. I'm surprised things have lasted this long, frankly. We'll be back to a two party system  with a few fringe people hanging around. Probably the liberals and the Whigs and the middle third party The People will found in the future.

I can absolutely understand someone voting Seatown over BK, considering BK's very fly-boy, love-em-and-leave-em approach to Atlasia he's had in the past.

Wormyguy has missed a majority of votes during his term and recently was expelled but still scored higher approvals than Seatown.

Sheesh. I guess I just don't know what Seatown has done wrong. Tongue

His actions in the Senate have included (a comprehensive list):
As someone who's played the game long enough to understand that actions in the Senate are (except where dealing with the election system) wholly irrelevant to the game and serve only to provide a purpose of sorts for the people we elected there... why the hell should I care what he's done in the Senate? How should I know without actually reading Senate threads?
People vote on two principles here: One type trolls the election thread by voting for organized tickets and getting barely-relevant accounts to do the same, and the other type trolls the election thread by turning it into a popularity/political closeness contest.

Homely does. Check the DoFE stickied page, where I'm currently losing to a joke candidate.

I'm reluctant to do more preliminary STV counts, because the next minute new votes will come in and the quota will change. I will say this, however: Hash, Xahar, Snowstalker, Andrew and SJoyceFla are out of it at the moment; Marokai, Hagrid, Franzl and Clarence are looking strong, and Bacon King, Seatown and NVTownsend are on the bubble.

Aye, I just noticed that. No idea where that support is coming from, but I'm not complaining Grin

in other news, since I have Internet access again, expect an election tracker update shortly Smiley

Here's an updated tracker; didn't know who not to count, so just I counted everyone here. Voters' names are listed so the results can be easily changed once I know who didn't meet the activity requirements (four voters so far, apparently?).

Posting the list of first preferences now, will do the rest in a separate post.

Unless all Marokai voters preferenced Seatown next, which is unlikely, he's eliminated next. Somehow I doubt that Seatown's voters provide the margin for Clarence to overtake anyone above him and be elected, though stranger things have happened.

With Marokai one vote over the threshold of 17, each of his votes is redistributed with a value of 1/18. They flow as follows:

9 to Seatown (Antonio V, Culture King, Nathan, Ogre Mage, Gass3268, Marokai Blue, Hawkeye, Alfred Jones, Earl)
6 to Bacon King (Lief, Adam Griffin, Fritz, Cincinattus, bore, Redalgo)
2 to Franzl (Maxque, ilikeverin)
1 to NVTownsend (homelycooking)

Marokai Blue: 17 (elected)
Bacon King: 15 1/3
Hagrid: 15
Franzl: 13 1/9
NVTownsend: 13 1/18
Clarence: 12
Seatown: 11 1/2

Now Seatown is eliminated. His votes are redistributed as follows:

Fractional votes (worth 1/18 each):

6 to Bacon King (Alfred Jones, Culture King, Nathan, Ogre Mage, Gass, Hawkeye)
2 to Franzl (Antonio, Marokai Blue)
1 to NVTownsend (Earl)

Whole votes:

5 to Bacon King (Julio Madrid, Edowed, OAM, Franken, Lewis)
3 to Clarence (Seatown, opebo, Snowstalker)
1 to NVTownsend (Kalwejt)
2 are exhausted (Tweed, Mechaman)

Marokai Blue: 17 (elected)
Bacon King: 20 2/3 (elected)
Hagrid: 15
Clarence: 15
NVTownsend: 14 1/9
Franzl: 13 2/9
(exhausted: 4)

Bacon King passes quota and is elected.

Err... not entirely sure how to handle the math here. Is the overflow value for my voters 3.666/20.666 or do just make the new overflow votes count as 3/20 and the double overflow votes count as 1/120 (i.e., 3/20 times 1/18) apiece? Considering how close this all is I want to make sure I'm as accurate as possible here. Smiley

I have no idea what the rules are BK, but would not each of your 20.667 voters get for their next choice .17743262 votes each (3.667/20.667)?  That seems to me to be the logical answer. I don't see why votes you got on a secondary basis in fractions, would not then be thrown into the pot just like your first place votes.

What I don't get is how Franzl, after months of not being seen in Atlasia at all, just waltzes in here a week before an election, announces his candidacy, then does absolutely nothing to campaign, and ends up at the least very close to winning.  You people are pathetic- why are you giving your votes to someone who has done nothing to win them?  Don't get me wrong, Franzl's a great guy- but it takes more than that alone to get my vote.
