The cold front has fizzled and the chance of rain has evaporated. The heat dome is strengthening over Colorado and New Mexico and is set to move east and park over Central and Western Oklahoma. Today is the "cool" day in Oklahoma City with a high of "just" 102. Tomorrow, is the second coolest day at 105. After that highs in Oklahoma City are supposed to range from 107-111 all week. Western Oklahoma could be seeing temperatures in the 112-115 range. The hottest temperature ever recorded in Oklahoma City is 113. The hottest ever in Oklahoma is 120. The drought is rapidly intensifying over Oklahoma and much of the country. In Oklahoma, most of Central and Eastern Oklahoma is in the Severe category. Much of Western Oklahoma is in the Extreme category, while parts of Northwestern Oklahoma is in the Exceptional Category. Latest models indicate that significant relief may not happen until early to middle September and that August will not be a good month for cooler temperatures.
