One area of attack I have not seen is McCain targeting 'ticket splitters' and warn against the Dems controlling all parts of government. Although this seems like a good attack, it has the issue of seemingly conceding that the GOP will lose in their bids to regain the House and the Senate.  And since he is so dependent on the RNC right now for cash, is that something they would let him do.

Tactically, yes, especially since Boehner and McConnell have both admitted that the GOP won't hold either branch come 1/3/09.

However, it's been 14 years since the Dems had complete control, so it's been largely forgotten by most voters (or not even remembered at all by most anyone under about 25).

Plus, it's be hard to argue that things are better today than they were in 1994.

Much too sophisticated an issue for the average voter. Also, after the past 8 years I don't think the voters want Republicans in charge of anything.

Nope, it won't work. It might work for some hard pressed Pubbie congressman in a swing district though.

Maybe in a battleground state that has had recent bad experience with one party Democratic rule.  Problem is, I can't think of any such state off the top of my head.

Getting Democrats to agree is like herding cats. They might as well be multiple parties. During Reagan's administration, a Democratic House pushed through Reagan's agenda. During the beginning of the Clinton administration, a Democratic Congress shot down his health care plan. And recently, a Democratic Congress has been giving Bush everything he wants. No, we need a Democratic President to stand up to the Democratic Congress. The party has really lost its way since the 1980 elections.

Yeah, IL isn't a swing state. Tongue
