Ok, maybe I'm just getting old and "out of touch" at 27...

but I'm one of those old fashioned types that thinks that technology should have a use and a purpose.   Facebook I totally get.  Its an open community that allow people to express themselves, keep in touch with people, and its ad system is highly targeted and very well done.  Its a good campaign tool because you can reach a whole lot of young people that won't bother going to your website but will join your facebook group especially if their friends do it.  That I get.  That I embrace.

But Twitter?  It just seems to be comprised of people that have nothing else better to do than follow each other around like drunk sheep.  Some conservative friends of mine have orgasms every time some new official "gets it" and starts twittering.  It seems like a bunch of conservative bloggers and hyped-up activists sitting around in an information circle jerk - what is the use?

Sadly, it would seem that there are thousands of conservative activists that truly believe that we lost the Presidential election because our candidate wasn't on twitter or blogging or whatever the f**k bandwagon it is today.

I still don't really know what this is and I don't want to know. It sounds stupid.

Oh don't worry, I'm sure before too long one of the Twitter zealots will come by and tell us how ancient we are how we just don't get it, etc., etc.

For what I can tell, it's like Facebook statuses, except without any of the other Facebook features.

But next time I want to know whether Ron Wyden missed his freeway exit, goshdarnit, I guess I'll just have to sign up.

(Caveat: If I was into reality television, I imagine I'd be into Twitter too.  Voyeurism can be interesting, but largely I think politicians are boring subjects.)

I broke down and was sucked into the world of facebook. That is enough for me.

I don't get it either.

Not that I'm trashing it. If you like it then more power to you. I just don't understand the allure.

Apparently I'm not the only one who noticed the "technofetishism" that is plaguing conservatives recently:

You've pretty much summed it up.  I only got it for political reasons.
