Some of us enjoy the media component of election campaigns, so I figured we could dedicate an entire thread to TV & Radio ads and direct mail.

Plus, this will cut down on the amount of individual ad threads.

MD-Senate

Kweisi Mfume launches first TV-Ad.

IMO, he waited too long to hit the airwaves (primary is Sept 12).

Analysis:  This is a typical feel good/short bio ad.  Regardless of your opinion of Mfume, he has lived an incredible life and has a great story to tell.  Abandoned by his father at young age, mother died while he was in his teens, high school drop out, gang banger, and drug dealer... turned City Councilman, Congressman, and NAACP President.

Michael Steele Launches New Campaign Ad

Building Bridges

Analysis:  Probably the best ad in the race for US Senate thus far.  Cardin's have been pretty pathetic.

Steele's ads are pretty good. He appears to be a great campaigner. Too bad for the Republicans he's to the right of Bush in a damn liberal state, because otherwise he could be their answer to Obama.

He's an excellent candidate.

Something happend the other day at my girfriends house that nearly took the breath away.  My GF's mom is a diehard democrat.  I dont believe she has ever voted for a Republican, but the other day she said, "Nick, who is that tall, good looking, black guy all over TV?  Im voting for him."

I thought to myself... Mfume?  Cummings?  Who the hell is she talking about?  Then it hit me, Steele.  She continued on to say, "He's speaks well, he's good looking, and I like the fact that he's running as an Independent."

She had no idea he was our Lt. Gov.  She also had no idea he was a Republican.  I informed her of his part affiliation, but she said she was voting for him anyway.  She was actually quite pissed that she couldnt vote for him this Tuesday.

... at least I have 2 months to change her mind.

Wow. This new Ford ad really kicks ass. I especially like the aside about Corker smearing his primary opponents- it could give him a boost with disaffected conservatives.

He's running a hell of a campaign.  I hope he makes it.

Vote for Vets

This is a great ad.  Attacks Allen for voting against body armor for troops.

Good ad by the Steele campaign (although obviously ripped off from the earlier "Ned Lamont has a Messy Desk" ad).  He is really trying to run almost as a Democrat. The average voter in MD probably has no idea how far on the right he really is.

By the way, here's a good ad for Sherrod Brown:

The Standard

That's another great ad for Steele.

The MD-Democratic Party has begun to run this ad created by the DSCC to counter Steele's set of ads.

DSCC Ad - DeWine

Check this one out.  The production is a little boor, but overall its a great ad.  The picture of DeWine and Bush is priceless.

Nice little one liner from Ken Morley (Cardin's campaign manager):

"If Michael Steele wants to debate health care, Ben Cardin will be there. If Michael Steele wants to debate education, Ben Cardin will be there. If Michael Steele wants to debate the war in Iraq, Ben Cardin will be there.

"If Michael Steele insists on debating puppies, Ben Cardin will be there," said Morley, referring in jest to a Steele campaign ad. "With less than 50 days until the election, there is no time for a drawn out discussion process. Let's debate," Morley said.

Bob Casey's latest ads

Ed Rendell - Santorum's ad is Trash.

98%

I really like the first ad, but I hope the second (98%) ad wasnt the knock out punch they were looking for.  Its your standard attack ad.  Nothing special.

Steele's puppy ad got a lot of praise and rightfully so.  But the DSCC responded perfectly imo.

Ive seen it at least 3 times on the morning and evening news.  Great counter ad.

As someone else said, Santorum's new Rudy ad is pretty good.  Its a 60 second ad, though, Ive never actually seen one of these make it to the air.

I find Kennedy, Steele and Ford's being the only decent ones.

What? Kennedy's got some of the lamest ads I've ever seen. Even the Freepers seem to agree based on what they've said, and that's one of the reasons for his double digit trailing.

Klobuchar's are nothing spetacular, but they are far better.

What did you think of the DSCC's counter to Steele's puppy ad?
