That is what I get for cutting corners via copy and paste. Tongue

I recommend the VP start a vote here at the earliest opportunity.

Nay

While the initiative system hasn't really been used much, I don't see a reason to erase it from the books. Having it as a potential legislative route isn't hurting anything.

I'm changing my vote to nay, only because I think it deserves a chance BUT I'm willing to see the end of it if it again is wasted on frivolous nonsense.

I have always been rather dubious on the matter of initiatives and so forth, but I am willing to give this an attempt precisely because things are somewhat different here.

I know some have been throwing a lot of attention on this issue of "making elections matter" and that is a great thing but I think it is being applied to simplistically in this case. In real life it could remove the primary reason for opposition and thus interest in an election, hench why Marokai gonna get Governor John Kasich for another term (maybe even as President). Here, it is an avenue, that if used properly, could direct attention towards the work of the Senate and thereby drive interest in electionsinstead of reducing it. That is the way I tend to see the matter at least.

Going forward we need to encourage its use, otherwise then we should consider taking this action at some point in the near future.

JMO, I haven't exactly been impressed with a lot of the initiatives I have seen, but that of course doesn't mean the process shouldn't be there.

The amendment is defeated.
