I don't care if anyone does it right or not. We should try. AFAIK candidates need to declare by Wed morning. That means that a 72 hour party endorsement must begin at the end of Saturday. I don't know how long we have for sign-ins but it seems a very long time, another 72 hours? So that means the convention must open by late Wednesday, which is a full week before the election, which is far too long.

Why, on earth, do we leave 72 hours for all this crap? If someone does not care to log in once every day, much less once every 48 hours, then they should not have a vote.

I just wish I had gotten the endorsement and we could've avoided all of this drama. It's not like any of us are living at Laguna Beach. Cut the crap.

Look at the freakin situation. We are supposed to hold an endorsement vote for candidates and complete it before the filing deadline, meaning candidates can drop out and jump in after we have endorsed people. You start it too early, and no one is paying attention and they miss the declaration period for party endorsements. You start too late and the vote doesn't get completed in time. I did try, Teddy, I really don't appreciate you acting as if I didn't. The fact remains that this system is the defination of insanity here.

Party member sign in is purely cosmetic and has no real purpose. It also has nothing to do with why this screwed up system wasn't complied with without a hitch. The problem was I did the math, time for declarations and the vote and I had enough. However, I didn't alot much intervals in between to actually start the damn vote. And sorry for living but I can't be on here 24/7. Thats why the vote ended up not happening. Its easy to monday morning quarterback my decisions but you didn't have to make them, I did.

Also, if I ever implied in any way that I hold you responsible, I apologize. I was attempting to point out the system is silly and requires change.

What do you want to change then?

As I see it, we either move the filing deadline back, or we repeal this fusion voting Act?

We don't even need it really. We can still hold endorsement votes, but on our own time and terms, without it.

The party has a leadership structure you know.

I am willing to listen to any real change but so far you haven't offered anything.

I wasn't sleeping. I had spotty electricity and internet because of this Teddy:
http://www2.nbc17.com/news/2011/apr/22/nws-april-16-storms-largest-tornado-outbreak-nc-hi-ar-971019/

I don't remember when I finally got on here that day, it may have been late that day or on Sunday, but I did post this on Sunday, April 17th:

Which is when I decided a vote was impractical and unecessary with only one person. With no lag time, losing one day made the difference. And I do have a Vice Chairman, Teddy. Trouble is I usually try and do most of the stuff and thus they aren't used to stepping in and filling the void when I can't.

It took me a while to figure out what the problem actually is, which appears to be in the last line of your last post.

edit -

What I am saying is this
1 - Something went wrong.
1a - Because if nothing went wrong, we would have held a vote
2 - Whatever went wrong needs to be fixed.
2a - so that it does not happen again.
2ai - because wrong things are not supposed to happen and we should make not wrong things happen.

I'll run for deputy if it means I can jump in when needed. I'm always willing to do so.

Are you saying we should create a new position called the "deputy". No such position currently exists in the RPP.

Which reminds me of one of the reasons we are here, review and improve the bylaws. Tongue

Ah once a midwesterner, always a midwesterner. Tongue

You know part of my "delegating authority issue" is that when I do delegate, I like to do so to a collective, rather then one person. This is the way I most prefer to lead the party as it is most inclusive and most successfull (unless of course one isn't active and thus doesn't participate in discussion which happens a lot). However as noted in the parenthesis the pendemic innactivity is just murdering me in a brutal and uncivilized fashion.

So once again, if any RPPer has lost the link or currently doesn't have an account on the private forum, let me know via PM.

Teddy, did you get on successfully, the site has been having difficulties.

I am right now (I realize only about 3 RPPers are actually going to read this), considering a full leadership election to begin this week sometime. I had hoped to do so earlier but something happened in RL, and cost me my Saturday (INTOLLERABLE!!!).

What exactly does the leader do anyway? I might toss my hat in the ring.

There isn't such a position. By full leadership election, I mean elections for Chairman, Vice Chairman, Regional Chairs and any other positions.

Maybe we should consider revising the bylaws first then the do the elections.

For sake of discussion...

What are y'alls thoughts on a party secretary? This person would be in charge of maintaining an official party roster, making sure conventions are opened on time, and managing the Wiki page, along with other potential stuff.

FTR, I believe we're now the largest party in Atlasia!

I have no complaints with the idea. But we need a bylaw amendement. Are the current bylaws on the wiki?

Probably isn't. I am sure the Fusion voting amendment to the bylaws was never added back in August.
