The Wall Street Journal had an odd article this week about how CKE Restaurants (parent of the Carl's Jr. and Hardee's chains) was planning on not opening any new stores in California, but about 200 new ones in Texas.  The article talked about how this was due to California's regulations choking off business while Texas was a more favorable place to do business. The fact that California currently has 724 Carl's Jr's while Texas has only 51 was conveniently not mentioned.

In similar news, a new Heart Attack Grill just opened up here.  Apparently the original one in Phoenix (and the second one somewhere else) already shut down, so this is now the only one in the country.  One day I might attempt one of their 8,000 calorie burgers, but probably not.

We don't have any In-N-Outs  here in Oklahoma, but we do have several Carl's Jr restaurants.  In fact, there are two within a 2 mile radius of my house.  Starting to become a downfall of mine. :/

Yup, there's still lines out the door even though it's been four months. And I went at 3 in the afternoon.

And Bushie, the good news is that the distribution center is close enough to you guys that in-n-out can expand to Okc if they wanted to. Though I imagine they will expand to Houston and Austin first.

I like how a fast food restaurant called In-N-Out regularly has a line that probably lasts at least 45 minutes.

I seem to recall eating at In-N-Out in Texas in 2006.  Perhaps I was just hallucinating--or was in Arizona.

Nowhere in the name is it specified how long the "-N-" lasts.

Well, I spent about a month each in both Phoenix and Dallas that year, so I probably confused them.

Not too hard to do that. I understand.

They will inevitably clash with Five Guys, their rival to the east. Let the Burger Wars commence.

Five guys should try to compete on price. I buy a burger and some fries from there, and 7 bucks are out of my pocket. Just doesn't feel right. Though the cajun fries do give Five Guys something they can compete with In-N-Out on. Otherwise it's just mediocre compared to In-N-Out.

There's still lines? I mean the California ones are always crowded at lunch and dinner, but not at 3 o'clock. Although there's only about a dozen or so in Texas right now so that might be part of the reason. California has around 200.

Yes, it's because there's only 9 in the entire metroplex and also because it's new. The bay area has about 30-40 and the LA area probably has about 120. The Dallas metro area is about the same size as the bay area.
