The way some people foam at the mouth over the "traitor" Bradley Manning reminds me quite a bit of how the government of Oceania brainwashed it's citizens to violently hate "traitors" such as Emmanuel Goldstein (assuming he was a real person, in the book of course) in Nineteen Eighty-Four. Seriously...people act like he raped ten babies on national television, when all he did was release some documents. It's hardly something that warrants such vitriol.
