What do you think people should do to persuade voters to share their views if they're not running a a political campaign?

Persuasion is the art of winning friends and influencing people.  People will tend to align their views with yours if you are able to come across as agreeable and affable.  Being overly combative is a good way to turn people off to your argument, no matter the substance.

Living up to your ideals. If you’re a conservative who preaches the sanctity of marriage and the importance of charity over government programs, but you cheat on your wife and never donate or volunteer for charities, people are going to look at you as a hypocrite.

If they're people you know, being able to get through to them on things they value or understand.

All good points, but how do you get your words to be heard in the first place?

This isn't applicable in all cases, but I do think the efforts to get LGBT+ people to come out of the closet and live more openly in the 1970s-2010s, the current smaller trend of women being more open about having had an abortion, and probably things like open interracial relationships in past decades are long-term an effective ways of persuading people that these concepts are more a normal part of society than is commonly felt and portrayed and therefore less threatening. Of course, both are far from risk-free strategies, especially on the individual level, and it's not a one-size-fits-all strategy.

That is a essentislly a (semi-fictional) collection of stories relating to human relations in business.

J. Douglas Edwards also has an interesting approach to influence and persuasion.
