Will the Liberal wing of the Democratic Party be put away for the next 8 years?

I think the two Democratic campaigns this year split the party into two factions; the establishment Democrats concerned with fighting against the social conservatives, and the younger liberals who are focused on economic issues such as Wall Street corruption.
