Hey guys! So a while ago Spamage (and some other people) ran "county annexation games"

The way it works is:

-You submit a "nation" beginning with one county (I'll show an example/my country soon)
-Every turn I roll two magic five-sided dice for each country. That country can then annex that many contiguous counties.
-If two (or more) countries claim the same county, an additional die will be rolled after the fact.
-Players can join at basically any time, but should understand that the later they join, the more of a disadvantage they will be at.

The People's Republic of Greater Atlanta

Starting County: Fulton, GA
Population: 1,010,562
Color: Dark Green

Good luck! Smiley

I'll probably get this rolling when we get 5 or 6 people, unless it fills up quick

Oh, forgot to say. The de facto goal is to get the most population Tongue

Can we make a rule against picking counties in, say, nearby counties in bordering states unless there's more than, say, eight people?

Sure, but you have to get your ass out of Florida then Tongue

Also, I think it's more fun when we play just to play instead of focusing on the actual "objective." Indeed, the original rules never specify that that is the goal... But idk

Yeah, can you just get rid of the objective?

Sure. I'll still keep track though (why not). Might keep track of other things as well.

If you're keeping track it's still a goal...I'm just not sure what you're going for in this game anymore. Are we competing for something or what? I started by thinking we had to conquer everything, then you introduced the population rule, and now I just don't know.

In the words of the game's creator:

"Rules are simple: everyone starts with one US county and you should annex neighboring ones"

Cashew, Ted, and Jbrase: You may claim an additional county this turn.

Seeing as we have ten players, ENTRIES ARE LOCKED

Just waiting on the new players and Kingpoleon. Smiley

Gass, Cashew, and Ted have until tomorrow morning or they'll just have 1 to start.

Also, I'm perfectly content we got rid of the goal since dar has the entire Northeast to himself.

I won't even supply data since y'all are lazy and ain't giving me nothing (like seriously, you're supposed to be creative! Y'all didn't even give me colors, much less names or anything. You could have personal themes... Such opportunities - wasted! Squandered! You make me sick Tongue)

I only border eight counties. I catty corner two. If those count, then all the ones I border/catty corner except Okeechobee.

You can go on a line so long as every one attaches to one you've previously claimed that turn...

Could I join it? If approved, the following statement will come into effect:
-----------------------------------------------------
I, peterthlee, on behalf of the Federal Socialist Republic of Western America and Aloha (FSRWAA), claim Honolulu County, HI as starting point and temporary seat of government.

A) Sorry, we're full up
B) I don't know how using AK and HI would work, so fairly sure we ignore them

Just waiting on Kingpo and Ted!

Just waiting on Kingpo and Ted!

1) Past games I've played have used water contiguity for the oceans and Great Lakes, not sure if that's something you want to do.

2) Is there a time limit or do we wait until everyone takes there turn?

Thanks!

1) Meh, there's not really a need
2) Ideally until everyone takes a turn, but if it's been a while, I'll change it over

The Vernon County die roll result:

Gass: 3
Jbrase: 6

Jbrase has won Vernon County. This result has seen the rest of Gass' turn (4 claims) be ruled impossible. As compensation, Gass may claim an additional 2 counties. (Not including any that Jbrase has claimed this turn*)

*The official ruling is that technically you can, but it will automatically be given lower consideration and thus you will waste another claim

Wait, only 2? Shouldn't I just get to use my original 5 elsewhere?

You get half of the amount of counties you lose. Since I made this rule up on the spot and you didn't know, I'll give you 4 (it's only fair)

Just so I understand this for future turns. You automatically lose the claim that there is a challenge over and then get only half of the remaining claims. So if this would have happened in the future I would lose the claim for Vernon County and then only get 2 because 4/2=2. Do I have that right?

You may claim half of the territories you lost thanks to the claim - so if you had claimed DuPage and Washington Counties, as well as Fillmore and Houston, you'd only get 1. Make sense?

Looks like everyone's got their instructions in (except Novella, who has to fix that one thing).

I think Maricopa was the only clash, I don't have time - I'll do that roll tomorrow and give the loser credit next turn or something. We'll figure it out. Thanks! Smiley

Since neither party in the Maricopa County roll has their other moves affected, no refunds are given.

Again, you can extend counties in a chain. I've told you this multiple times, and it should be evident from the map. Not sure what isn't clear.
