NATIONAL CONGRESS OF LABOUR (NCL)

Since everyone and their grandmother can do so, I'll just claim to be ranking member and public representative of South America's largest trade union, the National Congress of Labour. While founded for industrial workers, it has expanded membership through affiliate daughter unions in sectors such as retail, agricultural labour and public administration. Current membership is estimated around 35 million workers and employees. The union is closely affiliated with the Socialist Party of South America.

Headquarters: Buenos Aires

Affiliated Members:

This is very good to hear! The government's actions will be closely monitored in our shady union headquarters

but we are also looking forward to cooperation!

Likewise, the NCL stands proud to be an ally of the working soldiers of South America, inviting them to organise themselves and join our union and our struggle!

In Spanish it's CNT.

I don't speak Spanish, so it's NCL for me, period Tongue

I don't either so I just use Google Translate(Though I do have a basic understanding of Spanish sentence structure) Tongue

I'll just use English, easier for everyone to comprehend.

Proudly I can today present our union's "Working Papers", a manifesto of sorts, with the idea of summing up progressive goals supported by the NCL and fellow-minded, goals, which we would like to see passed by the new, incoming government. The idea is that such papers will be published ahead of any new government's term, whenever the union's endorsed political party (which is the Socialist Party) is in opposition and thus has no way of shaping the government agenda. They will serve as a mouthpiece for South Americans in agreement to the NLC's views and goals, hopefully inspiring government ministers or private members of parliament to craft and pass legislation that can be seen as in accordance with our views; or at the very least determine how "labour-friendly" the government can be classified as, maybe having its part in decision-making before the next elections.

I agree with the demands of the recent working paper. May I join the NCL?

Very welcome to! The union may be affiliated with the Socialist Party, but that does not mean all of its members have to be.

I will support this if it changes its name to reflect the proper American spelling of "labor".

I'm afraid I will not be able to comply to your demands, you are nevertheless very welcome to join this labour union Tongue

This is an American nation. We are Americans.

Oh, I do use the spelling used in the American nations of Canada, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago; as well as in the former nation of Guyana, which as we all know now forms part of our nation, and thus part of the operating area of this union.

I vote we go further and declare it to be a General Strike.

This was intented as a strike for all roughly 35 million NCL members, so I would call that quite a general strike; of course this only coming to effect when force and / or arms are used against the protesters of Cochabama. The next step clearly lies with Mr. Potus and his government.

The nationwide, general Strike as proclaimed in our September 25 paper is hereby considered valid, for a period of, as of now, 2 days.

A longer proclamation will come shortly.
