Rick Scott has hit a new low in PPP's Florida polling with only 26% of voters now approving of his job performance to 58% who disapprove. His previous worst numbers had come in June when he had a 33% approval rating with 59% unhappy with his performance.

Scott's numbers with Democrats are pretty much unchanged compared to then and his standing with independents has gotten a little better.  What's really caused the bottom to drop out for him is that even Republicans are starting to really sour on his leadership. In June Scott had a 63/30 approval spread with them. That's now dropped all the way down to 46/31.

Scott is the most unpopular Governor in the country in PPP's polling.

Scott would lose a hypothetical rematch with Alex Sink 53-37. 21% of Republicans say they'd choose Sink before they would vote for Scott again, and she has a 48-36 advantage with independent voters as well.

So who's the likeliest 2014 nominee for the Democrats?

More interesting question: who is the likely nominee for Republicans?

Perhaps electing a convicted felon was a bad idea.

Alex Sink must be banging her head against the wall for pulling her cell phone out during the debate.

I think he will pick back up... as for nominees, who the hell knows. Our candidates come out of nowhere 5 years earlier or sometimes even 1 year earlier

At this rate he could be heading toward Arnold Schwarzenegger/Bob Taft levels.

No, Scott probably won't get re-elected.

Can he just resign and let Jennifer Carrol take over? He's seriously risking tainting her when she is a fabulous rising star for Florida Republicans.

It's gonna happen... Crist(D) 2014.
His wife already switched to D.
He's donated to a few democratic candidates.

Poll: Most popular politician in Florida is … Charlie Crist?

The big question here is can republicans win the 2014 florida gubernatorial election?
Maybe if Scott goes out quietly, someone like Pam Bondi, Jennifer Carroll, or Adam Putnam can take his place, but they will be fighting to rid themselves of his taint. I can't think of any Democrat besides Bill Nelson that can win a statewide race in Florida anymore. I suppose we could get Sink or Crist to run, but their performances in 2010 were underwhelming (Though Sink deserves a some credit, considering the political environment).

There any way Scott could win again?

No.

He barely won in the first place, so no.

He barely one in the first place, so no.

What if Obama is reelected, the economy gets slightly better by the 2014 campaign. In the Florda gubernatorial campaign, Sink defeats Crist to win renomination for governor in a close primary.

Scott goes unchallenged and is behind in the polls throughout the campaign, but Sink makes another similar gaffe late in the campaign, which doesn't give Scott a polling lead, but  he gets a late bounce. Any chance Scott wins in that scenario?

I don't think anyone has ever been reelected with approvals in the 20's. By then he will probably be in Robert Taft single digit territory.

So, Republican-heavy Alaska was able to toss out six-term "Uncle Ted" Stevens once he had added "convicted felon" to his résumé, but swing-state Florida wasn't able to do the same in an open election?

Once again, good job, Florida.

Rick Scott being a convicted racketeer doesn't help him in any non-2010 environment.
