The far left have always been the most violent and thuggish part of the political spectrum.
You should never say something like "have always been".  Obviously there are times and places where right wing partisan thugs were the more violent.

Really? When? Even in Weimar Germany the partisan thugs of the far left caused more violence than the partisan thugs of the far right. I would also make the point that one of the main arguments the Nazis used to gain votes is that they would deal with the threat of communist and far left violence. Without the problem of far left thuggery the Nazis would never have gained power and the second world war would have been avoided.
Because we last Democrats aand dissenters are "the threat of communism".
