So for a glimpse of the political future of Colorado, look to California?

Thankfully, Colorado doesn't use the referendum system and thus likely won't have the problem of citizens and state employees demanding more and more public benefits while refusing to accept any tax increases to pay for them.

With gun control, same-sex civil unions and everything else that's been going on in the CO legislature, 2014 will help determine if Colorado is a purple state or a blue state. If the Democrats keep their legislative majorities and keep most or all statewide offices, the Republicans are done here for a generation. We all knew it would happen eventually, just never anticipated it would be only a decade removed from the red state Colorado of the 2000s that elected people like Wayne Allard and Marilyn Musgrave.
