DuPage , IL

Republican in every election, except 1912, when it voted for T. Roosevelt (of course also a Republican).

Wow... that's VERY Republican. BTW, does anyone know of any counties that have gone Republican in every single election? Or Democratic in every election?

Hmm... off the top of my head, I think some of the counties in the South that sided with the Union have been Republican in every election since the Civil War... Meninomee, WI (created in the '60's) has always voted Democratic... with the exception of 1928 Logan, WV has as well (and IIRC Jackson, TN has with the exception of 1924).

I'm pretty sure that Elliot, KY has always voted for the Democratic candidate, but I've not seen any results before the '40's (with the exception of 1912).

Suffolk County, MA has voted Democratic in every election that Dave has county records for.  I'm not sure how far back that trend continues.

Actually (if you're a paying member) Dave has data for Suffolk (Boston) going back to 1892.

Boston has voted GOP in 1896, 1908, 1920, 1924. And never again (although it was close in 1956).

1976 Ford

It's about time, too.

Is that Fairfax County?
Fairfax voted for Johnson.
I think it's either Danville or (more likely, since Danville's a city, not a county) Albemarle county.

Now this is seriously weird.

Washtenaw County, MI, (Ann Arbor, University of Michigan, etc.) where I atteneded the University, has the exact same voting pattern.

Yeah, weird from 1968-1980 to go from Nixon to McGovern to Ford to Carter.

In the case of Washtenaw, I think it was trending left, but had to vote for Ford because he was a Michiganian and a U of M alumnus.

It probably is Washtenaw. Smiley
Pitkin Co, Colorado, also went from Nixon to McGovern to Ford.

So basically, the Republican every time. Interestingly, the County result this year came exceedingly close to the State average

Maybe because it IS Washtenaw county :-)
Well, I guess since so many people voted for Reagan in 1984 (great year, eh?), you can kind of forgive them, although I'm personally not in favor of Reagan. The only one that really shames me is Ford in 1976. Luckily I wasn't alive yet!

I could have sworn I put it in my post, but anyway, no it's Nez Perce County in North Central Idaho.  Solidly Democratic except for the occasional Republican landslide.  Then it switched over.  Kerry did better then Gore though.

Of course, Kerry got 3% better then Gore in the state.  I do not know exactly why though.
