It was virtually tied in 2012, but Clinton won by 20 points in 2016. It is also the whitest county in New Mexico (75% non-hispanic white). So what the heck happened in this county?

Probably more Hispanics coming out to vote.

But Trump did much better in most of the heavily hispanic rural areas, and his numbers were stable with Romney in Bernalillo county.

Non-hispanic whites we're using in this case. The census is pretty screwed up in the US (with how they define hispanics, and a load of other crap). For me, its on a person to person basis. Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz look regular white guys, while Julian Castro looks more mixed.
