Obama just jumped up to +5 on Rasmussen.

I think the right-wing anti-Bergdahl campaign might be backfiring.

Possibly so, but Rasmussen is so erratic that it probably isn't best to read into that jump. They are consistently the only pollster this year to show Obama with his approval outweighing his disapproval.

Yeah, Rasmussen has no tilt anymore. They're just bad at polling. I'd wager he's at about a 45% approval rating nationally.
I'd agree with that.

What polls should I trust when it comes to approval ratings? RCP includes a bunch that a have widely different results. Is it safe to assume that Gallup is the one to look at?

Gallup seems pretty solid, but if push came to shove and I could only consult one source, I'd want to see the RCP average over anything else. In my opinion, averaging the polls really balances out bias.

Obama only has a 40.9% approval rating on RCP. Why isn't the good economic news reversing the trend?

Sometimes presidents simply start losing ground in their second terms because they are seen as losing effectiveness.
