Harrison decides to be the second president to attempt a non-consecutive second term after being defeated by Grover Cleveland at re-election.

The Democratic nomination is still the same.

So who?

I mean, I'd vote for Harrison, but there's no way a guy that had been compared to a corpse several times throughout his presidency is going to beat Bryan in 1896. McKinley was probably the strongest candidate the GOP had that year.

He had the strongest management. Several factors also contributed to Bryan losing. He made a few strategic errors and it probably didn't help that his silver issue collapsed on itself right before election night... Nor did it help bosses saying they'd fire workers who voted for Bryan.
