I've actually moved quite a bit populist since I first got here.  I remember getting a score of like -1, -2 when I first took the test last year.

I'm just an independent minded kind of guy.

Umm...

-4.12 economic (+.13)
-6.36 social?!? (-1.59)

I think I've taken the test since then, I just don't know where I put my results...

-4.88 economic (-.76/-.5 overall)
-4.41 social (+1.95/-1.64 overall)

The 'overall' is compared to my first political compass test posted on Atlas.  So, no, this forum does not turn everyone libertarian Grin (thank god)

Well.. social libertarian/economic liberal

On the Compass, both the left and the authoritarian will involve Government involvement with people. But the authoritarian states will ultimately harm people, but I believe in having a Government which can help people if they need it, but one that isn't authoritarian or intrusive.

Then again, i also think Socialism is probably fine if a person acts socialist, but Socialist governments have a pretty lousy track record.

I also think Capitalism can run in a way that doesn't squash large numbers of people.

I forget if they ask about monopolies on the Compass, but I suspect my stance on monopolies would move me to the left. Basically, I think having a monopoly is anti-capitalist, because capitalism is run mainly by competition and not one company controlling an entire industry.

Well, the thing about monopolies is eventually they are all brought down by their own greed/corruptness, etc. You will always get someone who comes on the market and offers a new and better product. I don't know how old you are but believe it or not at one time K-Mart & Woolworth were the top dogs on the market. Eventually we know what happened with Wal-Mart. That was a huge success and I give Sam Walton a lot of credit for what he did in that regard. I don't want to get into an argument here about how Wal-Mart treats its employees, etc, since I know about that already. Eventually, IMO, someone will come along and either a) knock wal-mart down or b) be an equal competitor on a national level. In my opinion Wal-Mart is probably about at the peak of where it's going. Just watch and see what happens. One of the sure signs that a company has reached its' peak is when the customer service begins to decline. I have noticed that many Wal-Marts I have been to the individual service has become noticeably worse over the years. Their is one big rule in the grocery/dry goods industry, "For every one customer you gain with good service you lose ten customers with lousy service". I really believe that.
