https://news.bloomberglaw.com/daily-labor-report/biden-vetoes-resolution-to-block-labor-board-joint-employer-rule

Quote
“Without the NLRB’s rule, companies could more easily avoid liability simply by manipulating their corporate structure, like hiding behind subcontractors or staffing agencies. By hampering the NLRB’s efforts to promote the practice and procedure of collective bargaining, Republicans are siding with union-busting corporations over the needs of workers and their unions,” Biden said in a statement.

“I am proud to be the most pro-union, pro-worker President in American history. I make no apologies for my Administration protecting the right to organize and bargain collectively,” he said.

Go Joe!

It passed a Democratic Senate? Shameful.

It passed a Democratic Senate? Shameful.
Manchin, Sinema, and Angus King all voted for it.

I think such resolutions only require a majority for cloture.

Also 8 Democrats in the House voted for it:
Bera
Case
Correa
Costa
Courtney
Cueller
Davis (NC)
Peters

Maybe because Democrats knew that Biden would veto it?

I hope union voters across the Rust Belt remember this November who has their back and who doesn't.

Honestly wouldn't be the worst idea in the world to let Manchin and Sinema approve the occasional unhinged House Bill so that Biden can get good PR vetoing it

"Biden vetoes resolution" was the first thing that made me do a double-take, then "resolution to repeal NLRB rule on joint employers" made me do it again. That is one very confusing headline.
Resolutions are not legislation, and they can't be vetoed. So this doesn't make any sense.

The President can veto joint resolutions. Here’s more info on this procedure in particular:

Based.

So far, none of Biden's vetoes were overriden, which hasn't happened since Lyndon Johnson. Let's see whether we can keep this up, especially if he's reelected. He has vetoed eleven bills so far, one more than Trump over his entire term (Dubya and Obama had twelve each). All of Biden's vetoes were during this congress, just as Trump, who first used the veto power in 2019.
