1930s: Great Depression, FDR
1940s: WW2, India's Independence
1950s: Cold War, Great Economy
1960s: Civil Rights and Vietnam
1970s: Watergate, and Economic Malise
1980s: Reagan, and Star Wars(the movie)
1990s: Micheal Jordan and tech boom
2000s: War on Terror, and Housing Bubble
2010s: Too early to say

1950s: Cold War, _Leave it to Beaver_*
1960s: Counterculture, Vietnam
1970s: malaise, WTF happened to aesthetics?
1980s: Reagan, Cold War
1990s: End of the Cold War, the Internet
2000s: War on Terra, Cell Phones
2010s: Pussygrabber, Bye-bye America

*Yes, I know it was actually filmed in the early 60s.

1940s: kicking Hitler's ass, The Bomb
1950s: Fat Guys playing driving sedans the size of SUVs to play  Golf and eating 3000 calorie meals at the malt shop. Kids doing the same and weighing 100-120/140-170 pounds, Sputnik
1960s: Space Race/Apollo/Star Trek, Hippies/Vietnam/CRV
1970s: Gas Lines/hostage crisis/naughty oil sheiks, Watergate/policians who are too crooked or are not crooked enough

1980s: Rich guys doing coke and dancing to early techno that worked in some (((recently deregulated field))), "consolidating the majority"/Iran Contra but end of Cold War
1990s: hip hop and grunge...you know, west coast stuff, The Clintons( moderate heros who are polarizing and always accused of being corrupt)
2000s: Some guy and his guys who  always manage to barely win and keep winning despite being incompetent and the consequences of his incompetence/ we are both getting waaaay to religious and not religious enough at the same time. WTF?
2010s- Black Power and White Power/ every white girl drinks pumpkin spice lattes and has  tattoos

1970s: Disco; the movie Blow about Cocaine smuggler George Jung
1980s: The movie Wall Street; an aesthetic of industrial decay
1990s: The old dial-up tone; Bill Clinton grinning at me through the TV
2000s: 9/11; the 2008 financial crash
2010s: Trump's Election; Huh
