1789-1791: Anti-Administration
1791-1828: Democratic-Republican
1828-1831: Working Men's Party
1831-1839: Democratic Party
1839-1848: Liberty Party
1848-1854: Free Soil Party
1854-1874: Republican Party
1874-1889: Greenback Party
1889-1891: Union Labor Party
1891-1901: People's Party
1901-1972: Socialist Party
1972-1973: Social Democrats, USA
1973-1982: Democratic Socialist Organizing Committee
1982-1991: Democratic Socialists of America
1991-present: Democratic Socialists of America / Green Party of the United States

I would probably feel very out of place within the Socialist Party after 1919 (at least until the 1930s) but by 1918 the Soviet Union had already begun a process of degeneration that would ultimately rob it of the radical democratic notions it was founded upon by 1921, and so I think I would have a very hard time supporting the Communists after 1918. I would have definitely been one of the more left-leaning members of the Socialist Party, though. I certainly would have supported the faction around Haim Kantorovich in the early 30s.

I feel as if I would become increasingly despondent with the direction of the SP during the 1940s and 1950s, though, but really, where else am I going to go? The Communist Party has been suppressed by the government and there aren't really any real left-wing alternatives until the 1960s, and literally none of those are worth supporting because they're bizarre Maoist cults. I had a hard time figuring out whether or not I would have joining the SPUSA or DSOC after the collapse of the SP, but ultimately went with DSOC because I'm currently a member of DSA. I don't agree with everything in the DSA program (I'm far, far to their left) but hey, it's better than joining up with the CPUSA, which endorsed Obama in 2012.

Surely you are familiar with Workers World, TNF?

Yes, but it's not really what I would consider a serious socialist outfit.
