I don't see what the point would be.  I was told all summer by a certain group of people that there was no large scale election shenanigans going on in the US and that's why we didn't need any kind of ID to vote.

The "problem" IDs would solve is not at all the biggest problem in US elections.

Yes of course they should be monitored, more people watching can't be a bad thing, especially considering the partisan handling of American elections.
