The vast majority is embrassing trash, but it's not all bad.

What of it isn't bad? And as I pointed out before shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race are really just very intensive real world based game shows, not the same thing.
Sure, there are fewer good ones if you want to change the definition, but even with the change there is some good stuff.  Unless you watch every single show (which would be stupid), I don't see how anybody can say it's all garbage.  I enjoyed the Joe Schmo Show, early Pawn Stars, American Restoration, several of the guys drive around and find old beaters to fix up and sell shows, COPS can be fun.  But if you want to limit the definition to just shows about "real" rednecks, teenagers and babies dressed up like whores, sure, it's all garbage.

Outside of Jersey Shore season 1, no. But that season was the most magical period of television I have ever experienced. I wish they had cancelled it before they became self aware though.

They were magnificent, those guidos on the beach.

I don't watch much reality TV, but it's existence doesn't bother me (well maybe Real Housewives).  It's sort of like the update.
