Me?  I like Ike.

But huge honorable mention to Nancy Kassebaum.  I really don't know enough about any of the Kansas Democrats (Boyda, Slattery, et al) to comment.

Oh -- I didn't include Alf Landon because he was pretty much a pre-1965 figure but you're welcome to use the other option.

Kathleen Sebelius.

I had to laugh when Boyda lost even after endorsing the "surge" out of respect for President Bush. Note to right-wing Democrats: the Republicans hate you anyway.

Eisenhower, a real freedom fighter.

Honorable mentions for Sebelius (one of the best governors) and Gates (he managed the herculean task of cleaning up Rumsfeld's mess at DoD).

Dan Glickman.  Great DLC Congressman who got caught in 1994.  Should have never been defeated by near facist Todd Tiahrt.  And from reading What's the Matter With Kansas?, it was a matter of right winged populism in which Tiahrt used NAFTA against Glickman then turned around and did worse.  What a scumbag.

Hon mention: Sebelius, Kassebaum, Eisenhower.  This state had a lot of sensible Republicans until now.

A great congressman. It's too bad he lost in the Democrat wave of `06.

I like IKE. Other Favs include Alf Landon, Nancy Kassebaum, Robert Gates, Charles Curtis, Pat Roberts, Jerry Moran, Jim Ryun, and Lynn Jenkins. Bob Dole was OK. I can't stand Brownback or Tiarht.

Moran, though Ike, Sebelius and Dole get honorable mentions.
