Title: Just some random maps
Post by: Shilly on September 28, 2009, 07:58:50 PM
A while ago, I uploaded some precinct maps of the 2008 election to this site's gallery, but it seems that some possibly interested posters may not have seen them. So, for the pleasure of those that might not check the gallery, I will post the maps I have there to this thread. All colors are in the standard Atlas shades.

I assume that's San Rafael where Clinton did well? Edit: No, it's Novato. Explanation?

Also, where's UT on the Travis County map?

...Isn't at least one of those Novato precinct the Bel Marin Keys (the one with the water)?  Clinton?  Seriously?

Whats with those heavily Democrat rural polls in the upper right corner for Washoe County?  Are those large Indian Reserves or is those precincts with that are heavily Latino?  The others generally make sense, i.e. your typical rural/urban split.

It's an Indian reservation IIRC. Right around the pyramid lake area.

Yep, Pyramid Lake Indian Rez, good call.  Wadsworth (also the exit for Burning Man!) is the lower precinct, the one above it is probably above Nixon (which, unlike Wadsworth, has no whites) in a more rural area.  Not sure how many voters it has, probably all Indians.  It's pretty inhospitable country.
