Basically, Town Hall is a game based on municipal politics. Its main calling cards are the power of political organisations (in various different forms), the gap between politics in public and behind closed doors, the longterm development of cities and, if you like, corruption. Its structure is loose and players only have to do as much 'work' as they want to - there is no need to devote hour upon hour to the game though, equally, there's nothing stopping you from doing so. If you want to play, follow the following steps: 1. Read the rules 2. Read the background thread 3. Create a character 4. Wait for the kick off... This is (or should be) the first time that the game has been played for real. This time round the city is fictional and not really based closely on a single real world city (though individual districts often are). If its a success, future Town Hall games might be based on real cities. Hey, I might even work out a version that could be adapted for non-European municipal politics. |
