Alright guys, it's with great pride (although 6 months late :P) that I announce you the beginning of my...


First of all, a couple of precisions about the selection of this survivor's contenders :
- For Western Europe, I've considered all EU countries excepted formerly communist ones, plus Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. I know that including Cyprus in the "western Europe" is quite silly, but the criterion used is more political than geographical. I wanted to avoid former communist countries because their politics are pretty bizarre compared to the rest of Europe.
- I didn't follow an absolute rule for the parties I wanted to include. The general idea is to include every party which has gotten more than 5% of the votes in a recent election (last 5 years). I generally used general elections as a reference, but I took into account the effects of the voting system and was more merciful in non-proportional systems. But again, there might be some variations. When there are parties that systematically and since a long time run together in a coalition, I've counted such coalition as a party.

Now, a few words about the functioning of this survivor :

There are 112 (!) political parties in this survivor. In order to eliminate them, I thought the best thing would be to proceed by group. Thus, I've divided them into 6 different groups, based on their political positions. These groups are not homogeneous, as you will see. Again, a lot of my choices are debatable, but I've tried to fit as much as I could each party's orientation.

This survivor will be divided in 3 phases. In the first one, parties will be eliminated by group (not that, due to the fact some groups are bigger than others, the number of rounds will differ from group to group). For the second phase, survivors will be regrouped into two broader groups (left and right). Finally, the survivors of phase 2 will be reunited.

As usual, the voting rules will variate from round to round. There will be a few immunities, lasting 4 rounds each and not immediately renewable. And of course, I'll try to add new interesting ideas throughout the survivor. ;)

So the first phase is over... ;) It's been a really fun and colorful cycle, with some upsetting results, a lot of very close ones, and also a polarization which often doesn't follow ideological divide (I mean, I voted like fabie 90% of the time :P). I hope we can keep going that way for the next phase. :)

There will be two groups : Group A (left) with survivors from groups 1, 2 and 3, and group B (right) with survivors. Each will have 28 members, 13 of which will be eliminated during the 15 rounds of the phase. Once again there will be a couple of immunities and some direct promotions (though not as many ;)).

If you have any comments about what you liked or didn't like during this initial step, I'd be gald to hear them, so that I can take account of them in the upcoming cycle. Otherwise, I wish you'll keep following this survivor and hope you will enjoy it until the end. :)

My only wishes for phase II:
- start it slowly as I'm not here next week ;D
- forbid Edu to vote ;D
- forbid Hash to vote, except if it's in favour of KKE ;D.

I just wanted to inform you that, since Fab will be out for next week, I asked him to give his preferences for elimination as well as for saving/immunity, which I will later use to cast votes for him. I know this is a rather unusual procedure, but I honestly think a survivor like ours can't afford the absence of one of its more influential voters. That's why I'll express his vote at the beginning of each round, and count it as a normal vote.

Of course, that's only if nobody has any problem with that. I don't want to be accused to favoring some parties (since it happens that Fab and I often agree), and it's not a conspiracy to piss off Edu either. :P I want to do that because I think it's the fairest thing to do. But if someone finds it unfair, Fab told me he had no problem on his votes not being counted. So, do we all agree ?

Phase II is also over now. ;) It's been nice enough, and even though some rounds have been truly horrible and made me want to shoot at some people. :P Well, at least that way maybe Edu will stop whining as the usual frustrated guy. :P We've had suspenseful rounds, and I've personally had a lot of fun there.

But the best part has yet to come ! :D Of the 112 initial parties, only 30 remain (roughly one quarter). The most thrilling part of the survivor is about begin, with one party ousted each round, and no distinction between left and right anymore. That means no party will be totally safe now (well, SPD looked safe in phase II too ;D). That also means partisan hackery will be possible (Fab, I think I will disappoint you, because there's just too much crap left form group B...). I hope you'll all enjoy it !

Seriously, although a lot of interesting parties were eliminated early in the survivor and there are too many Scandinavian parties left I'm enjoying the survivor (even though it doesn't look like that :P). Internet is hugely biased towards the bobo-Green left. This forum is biased to the left. The purely political survivors, with figures or parties from both sides, are hugely biased in favour of the left.

First, the right, then the communists, then the "librul" false right, then the old socialists and we'll have an all-green top 5... :(
I'm ready to lose in EVERY round, now. That will be painful.

Finally that horrible crap is gone ! :D KKE was like a stain in this final phase, all the more when Vihr and Kesk got ousted. Now I can finally focus on some good-but-not-so-great parties like Labour, Europe Ecologie, etc... This is probably going to be the most tense part of the survivor (because one can accept to see his favorite losing, but hardly accepts not to even reach the top 5). Let's see how things will evolve, but I foresee a lot of tension. ;)

Also to note, KKE is the last party to go from the former far-left group. This group is the second one to remain without a participant, preceded by the far-right (since mid-phase II). I think all the remaining four have a decent shot at getting in the top 5. :)

An bourgeois capitalist conspiracy has shamelessly defeated the only true representative of the proletariat and popular strata against the capitalist exploiters and the opportunist SYRIZA. This decision is an anti-communist frenzy, part of the anti-communist campaign, which is led by the forum and the bourgeois (social democratic and conservative) governments. With this decision the forum is taking practical measures and goes beyond the vulgar forgery and the rewriting of history, the anti-historical equation of fascism and communism, and the mudslinging against the working class' gains in the socialist countries.
