Title: Tweedist Restoration Movement
Post by: Yelnoc on October 25, 2011, 06:12:41 PM
The Tweedist Restoration Movements aims to recreate the Golden days of Boss Tweed.  Unfortunately, those days have been lost to the mist of time.
(the wiki does not exist)

From what little our highly-paid specialists have been able to reconstruct, it appears that modern Atlasia has way too many political offices.  The TRM's first goal will be to prune the size of government.  No more will anyone need to worry about that pesky senate.  Atlasians will directly elect a President and five national committee members.  Those NCM's will each be assigned a portfolio by the President (SoIA, SoIA, SoFE, RG, AG).  The Committee will also act as a legislative body, appointing a member of their own to preside.  All bills must be signed by the President to become law.  The Supreme Court will continue to be appointed by the President, and retain the right of Judicial Review.

Elections will be held every two months.  The President will be elected in odd numbered months and the Committee Members in even numbered ones.  All elections are to be national ones, under the same IRV system.  To make up for the loss of regional power, regions will be granted the right of block nullification.  To wit, if three of the five regions adopt resolutions to declare a federal law null and void, and then present the resolutions jointly to the National Committee, the law in question will be overturned.

The Tweedist Restoration Movement seeks to change the current system from within, utilizing legally defined means.  If you want to help break the monotony, join the TRM!

The constant ability of some people to highlight the wrong problems consistently amuses me. Our problem is by no means our number of offices.

Also, Tweed isn't someone to admire, 'founding father' or no.
