Title: The Official FOX/Huckabee GOP Presidential Forum Discussion Thread
Post by: Simfan34 on December 03, 2011, 05:10:14 PM

Later this evening, Former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee will be holding a GOP Presidential Forum on his "Huckabee" show on Fox News. The forum will consist of six GOP candidates being questioned individual by a panel of state Attorneys General. Jon Huntsman and Herman Cain were also invited, however, both candidates have passed on the event.

Air Time: Saturday, December 3, 2011 at 8pm ET on Fox News

http://www.2012presidentialelectionnews.com/2011/12/huckabee-gop-presidential-forum-tonight-at-8pm-et/

I have no idea why Huntsman isn't showing up.

Can't we just see Cain debate one last time?  Please? :(

Huckabee has to be kicking himself more and more.

So...abortion/death penalty questions?  Last gasp for the Ricks?

Why the low interest as compared to other debates? I personally think this should be stickied. If somebody could post a link to this online that'd be great too. I missed the debate over Thanksgiving Break and have no intention to do so again.

No Cain, no Huntsman?  Rule on no personal attacks?  Equal time for candidates?  It's going to be a never-ending Ron Paul snoozefest.

I feel like this "forum" will mainly be composed of plaudits to Cain.

Ken Cuccinelli is one of the AGs involved, so add gay marriage and climate change to the list.

Rick closed by denying that SCOTUS is the final arbiter of the meaning of the Constitution (he wants to repeal Marbury v Madison somehow, someway, just like Newt), and wants to close down the 9th Circuit to boot. Just how anyone serious can support such reckless jokers sort of amazes me. It really does. If the Courts are not the final arbiter, the Constitution is essentially a dead letter. Does everyone understand that?  This is not a trivial issue.

No one except some libertarians and some paleocons actually care that much about the Constitution. That's not a complaint though.

I beg to differ, but whatever.

Here is a "thinkum" for folks. Do you really want Congress to "adjudicate" the reach of the 1st Amendment?  Do folks realize just how truncated free speech rights are outside the Fruited Plain?  Even Canada does stuff that causes me to shudder - jailing or fining folks for incorrect speech that the government deems "hateful" or whatever.

Bachmann was too stupid to deflect the comment that deporting 11 million illegals (which she supports), would cost 150 billion. You would think this rather calm but nevertheless calculatingly vicious women would have had the presence of mind in her world to comment that the bulk of those would leave of their own accord if cut off from jobs and government benefits (which of course she also supports). But she didn't.  Well, she's irrelevant anyway. Stupidity is a sin for a potential POTUS is the point, beyond what they actually think.

Paul came up with the big three of what government should be doing on the spot (borders, currency and enforcing the Bill of Rights), unlike poor Perry when it came to his little three agencies in his cross hairs. Paul is a quite composed chap. I guess that comes with a point of view, that renders the complex, all just so simple.

Paul doesn't know the amendments to the Constitution other than the Bills of Rights.  You would think that when asked to list what amendments to the Constitution were a mistake, he would have gone to the amendment on the income tax (the 16th?), like flies to sh**t. But then he is an MD, not a JD, so he won't go to hell over that flub.

Can I just take a brief amount of time to express my absolute admiration for you all? To spend so long sitting through and commenting on (with furious keyboard strokes of superhuman dedication) this endless series of utterly tedious and essentially pointless 'debates' between a dispiriting array of sociopaths, frauds, hacks, probable sex offenders, escaped mental patients, obviously closeted homophobes, and Mormons (and all of them clothed in expensive-but-horrible suits of one kind or another, and all of them acting on an endless series of ghastly garish stages as if this were not so much political theatre as political vaudeville) is quite some feat. Certainly not something I have the stomach for. I am sure that these precious hours have not been wasted, as it is clear to me that these debates will end up being as absolutely and utterly worthwhile as they have been both thrilling and intellectually stimulating.

Pounding that out Al must have felt almost as good as a really good sexual consummation for you.  So many bon mot adjectives attending a string of almost equally arresting nouns, strung out in one long paragraph full of robust sentences, just spilling it all out. Good job!  :P

You know what Winston Churchill said right? But then, maybe what he said has more verisimilitude in Britain, whose governance I quite admire overall.

Only saw Romney, Paul, and closings. I know I'm biased, but I was extremely impressed with Romney. He has the unique ability of being able to please both conservatives and moderates, something no other candidate (minus Huntsman, of course) can achieve.

The AG from Florida was annoying and inexcusably dumb. Cooch was pretty heavy handed with all the candidates, which I found funny. He had no problem cutting them off.
