Title: What kind of person would agree to be Newt's running mate?

Certainly none of the always discussed "rising stars" would join that suicide mission. Whose career is already dead enough to not care?

Gingrich/Santorum?

Hell, Gingrich/Romney? It's not like he has any other political future and a "unifying move" like that might be needed after a divisive primary.

I figured Romney was too much of a baby to accept anything but the top spot.

I will go on a limb and say Mitch Daniels would be Newt's running mate.
  • Mitch is everything Newt is not: calm, a governor, moderate, monogamous, and liked by Washington insiders
  • As mentioned above, Mitch is more liked by Establishment Republicans more than Mitt. A Daniels VP-ship would more palatable to Washington insiders.

If McCain had offered it to him in 2008, Romney would have accepted.
Yes, he would have. Because McCain never really had much of a chance anyway and Romney could further solidify his position as the "next guy in line".

A Sarah Palin type clown.

This whole election has been characterized by heavy-hitting Republicans sitting out. I guess all along they were too scared to take on Obama, even with crazy high unemployment.

Next cycle, I'm willing to bet Republicans easily take the presidency, since Democrats will probably revert to form and choose some lame candidate.
