Quote Ames Republican A.J. Spiker is the new chairman of the Republican Party of Iowa, according to members of the state GOP central committee. Spiker is a real estate agent and a central committee member. He’s well known for his strong backing of presidential candidate Ron Paul. The previous GOP chairman, Matt Strawn, resigned Friday. The 17-member state central committee voted 9-8 today to elect Spiker. Others vying for the post were state GOP co-chairman Bill Schickel and Polk GOP co-chair Dave Funk. This should mean the good guys will have an advantage when the delegate selection takes place. :) (State chair is also a superdelegate). The GOP state apparatus has been slowly shifting in his direction, in some cases quite a bit farther than others (Maine and New Hampshire in particular were overrun by his cohorts, and Nevada nominated Angle because of a desire for revenge against Lowden) I doubt those 24 delegates will make a world of difference, though :P Title: Re: Paulites take over Iowa Republican Party Post by: Bacon King on February 12, 2012, 01:53:23 PM Reloveution marches on!
