Barnes Pulls Ahead!

With the last vote by Ebowed, the final elimination round of vote counting stands at ZuWo 23, Polnut 23, Barnes 24! This is the first time Barnes has exceeded Polnut in this round.  Polnut would be eliminated before ZuWo based on first preference votes, leading to a Barnes victory.  Will Barnes be able to maintain this tenuous lead?  Stay tuned!

The latest results update has been posed in the DoFE thread. Barnes/Winston holds a 39-31 lead over ZuWo/Jbrase at the moment, with Polnut/tmthforu being eliminated in the third count.

The third count gives us a tremendous nail-biter:

Barnes/Winston 26
ZuWo/Jbrase 25
Polnut/tmthforu 24

Yeah, I hope this makes some of the nay-sayers realize their foolishness! ;D

Really this is between Barnes and Polnut at this point, even though ZuWo is in the final three.  It comes down to who gets eliminated in the third round.  If Polnut is eliminated, Barnes wins.  If Barnes is eliminated, Polnut wins.  If by some chance ZuWo is eliminated, Polnut wins.  Polnut also has the advantage of more first preferences than Barnes, so he wins a tie.  So Polnut has the edge, but Barnes could still come out ahead.

Barnes, however, is not performing as well as Polnut in a 2PP matchup with ZuWo. A Polnut elimination may not necessarily mean that Barnes wins if there's a strong late turnout for ZuWo, which we've seen in the last hour or two. However, if Polnut comes first or second, he wins. ZuWo and Barnes must push him to third in order to have a chance at the win.

I think it's safe to predict a Barnes victory, since that was my last preference. I usually vote against the majority in Atlasian elections.

It's one of the more annoying habits on this place, I agree (and I say that as someone who does sometimes).

I want to say that this election was very interesting- all candidates wre mature and I enjoyed reading the discussions of th e issues... all candidates are very impressive. I will try to become involved agin in the fantasy elections

It's annoying, though, and very rarely useful.
