Title: What borders have you been to? Post by: Vosem on March 17, 2012, 09:46:07 AM An interesting topic I was just discussing with my brother. What country borders have you come within 10 miles of, on land? (Crossing it counts, obviously). It doesn't count if you're on a plane. To my surprise, I've only actually been to three such boundaries:
US-Canada France-Netherlands (on St. Martin) Costa Rica-Nicaragua What about you? Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: anvi on March 17, 2012, 09:52:29 AM I've been to the U.S.-Canada border at both the International Peace Gardens in North Dakota and at Niagara Falls.
But the most interesting border I've been to was in Basel, Switzerland. I have a picture I took of it hanging on my apartment wall. It's a misty January day, I'm standing in the back of the Erasmus Church, that is, standing in Switzerland, looking out over the Rhine River, and on the left edge of the Rhine was France, and on the right edge was Germany. I really love that spot, even though I was only there once. Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: Franzl on March 17, 2012, 09:57:27 AM Too many to count...
Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: dead0man on March 17, 2012, 10:21:39 AM Just the US-Canadian and US-Mexican borders...only crossed the Canadian one (and that was many many moons ago).

Marie as well, and I crossed through US waters on the Vancouver-Victoria ferry.
Also, I live within 10 miles of the Canada-Quebec border ;) Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: minionofmidas on March 17, 2012, 03:44:17 PM Canada and Quebec are synonyms. You live within ten miles of the Upper Canada - Canada border.

Post by: Sbane on March 18, 2012, 03:16:30 PM I have been to the US-Canadian border at Niagra Falls. I have been near the US-Mexico border at Imperial Beach, which is near San Diego. A nice pier with views of the Helicopters hovering around, trying to keep the Mexicans out. I have also been close to the India-Bangladesh border while visiting Cherrapunji. You can see Bangladesh from there (it's on a mountain overlooking the plains of Bangladesh) but since I went to the rainiest place on earth in the middle of the rainy season, there was no possibility of that occuring.
Oh, and the Singapore-Malaysia border as well lol. Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: greenforest32 on March 22, 2012, 04:51:03 AM No other countries and for states:

To my surprise, I've only actually been to three such boundaries: US-Canada France-Netherlands (on St. Martin) Costa Rica-Nicaragua What about you? I've crossed the US-Mexican border at about 7 places, the US-Canada border at 4 points, the Mexico-Guatemala border at 2 points, the Netherlands-Germany border at 2 places, and the following land borders at least once: Guatemala-Belize, Belize-Mexico, Guatemala-El Salvador, Guatemala-Honduras, Panama-Costa Rica, Peru-Bolivia, Germany-Denmark. I know that I've been within ten miles of the East-West border in Germany, when it existed, and within ten miles of the China-Hong Kong border, when it existed. I've probably been within ten miles of several borders as well, such as the northern and southern borders of Nicaragua, and some of the western borders of Germany, but that's all I can remember at the moment. Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: GMantis on May 13, 2012, 04:52:47 PM Borders I've crossed:

Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: Mr. Morden on May 13, 2012, 07:40:56 PM I hardly ever cross borders by land. I guess at some point I should visit mainland Europe if I want to get some border crossings in.
I've crossed the US-Canada border at at least five different locations: NY-Ontario (near Niagra Falls) MI-Ontario MN-Ontario WA-British Columbia at two different locations Title: Re: What borders have you been to? Post by: MaxQue on May 13, 2012, 10:03:20 PM I never crossed any border, but I went to Niagara Falls, Ontario and on the bank of the Niagara River. US is just on the other side of the river.
I also went to an event at Stanstead College, in Stanstead, Quebec, which is at 0.4 miles of the US border, just at the end of I-91. Title: Re: What borders have you been to?
