Title: How would these places vote (in the US), judging from StreetView?
Post by: Hash on April 16, 2012, 11:01:58 AM
The following places are not in the US, most are in France, but assuming they were located identically in the US, how would they vote?

I might try this later, but simply how places look can be misleading to racial makeup in the US, which is the main factor in how they vote.

1) 55% R
2) 96% D
3) 78% D
4) 79% D
5) 57% R
6) 60% D
7) same link as above
8] 59% R
9) 55% R

I generally imagined them in a Midwestern setting. All would be D on much of the West Coast, for example.

Seriously? That looks like one of our standard inner ring suburbs, closer to 55-60% D.

1. Seems like an old West Coast port town--maybe a working-class area of Seattle. 60% D.
2. Looks inner city-ish. I'll be safe and say about 85% D.
3. Looks SoCal or Arizona-ish. Probably pretty marginal, though that depends on the Hispanic population.
4. This is obviously Paris, but I'll pretend it's an older part of New York. 80% D.
5. Clean suburbia--I'll say 55% R. Probably in the Mid-Atlantic.
6. Seems a little run-down, so 60% D.
7. See 6.
8. Sunny American Dream sort of place, maybe in the Midwest. 55% R.
9. 60% R, unless it's rural New England.

this has to be the worst way to tell how someone would vote.

If I would post pictures of NYC with out any people in it for guidance I would bet people would be more then 50% off in some parts and some over 80% off

The small size of the houses lends itself to me proclaiming them all D.

Those map views don't work too well in the US. In the US, density = Democrats, and the housing stock in the US is less dense. With the possible exception of the Normandy coast road, every snap of the first six or so that I looked at, looked Dem. And Pubs really hate high rises, or multi floor buildings.

The last one looks Pub however, and maybe the penultimate one.

I was reminded of some small but dense towns on the Long Island Sound by the first one.

Based on the "Kosciusko" sign this would be a small town in NE Indiana, fairly conservative for a manufacturing area.

Sorry to bump this old thread, but I found it very amusing:

4. This is obviously Paris, but I'll pretend it's an older part of New York. 80% D.

This actually voted over 90% Sarkozy (even over 70% Fillon!) and is one of the, if not the most, right-wing localities in France...
