I've become weary of bills that don't have a serious intent, so I'm probably going to vote against this.

The National Muffin Act

The national muffin of the Republic of Atlasia shall be the chocolate-chip blueberry muffin.

I think we need a muffin as a symbol of our Republic, because muffins are the best food in existence, and so they are a fitting emblem for Atlasia. QED. BTW, I believe Pingvin is a co-sponsor.

I'm perfectly fine with that amendment.

I'm ready to co-sponsor it.

ILV, I'm perfectly fine with that amendment. I would prefer chocolate-chip, but all muffins are delicious.

This has nothing to do with the FPR. If it doesn't need a slot it will be up by tonight. If it does, it will be brought up in the Foreign Policy Slot when the Afghan bill is done.

Quote
Section 5: Rules on Motions to Table
1. Any Senator can, during a period of debate, introduce a motion to table the legislation.

2. The PPT shall open a vote on the motion to table. This vote shall last for a maximum of two (2) days during which time the Senators must vote. Voting may be declared final at any time if the motion to table has been approved or rejected.

3. For the motion to table to pass, two thirds of those voting (excluding abstentions) must support the motion.

4. Tabled legislation shall be taken off the Senate floor.

A motion to table has been entered and is so noted. The motion to table requires the seconding of another Senator. Two senators have seconded the motion and therefore a vote is now open on the and consideration of the motion is now before the floor. Senators please vote, Aye, Nay, or Abstain.

Atlasia is in trouble and I highly doubt it is because I introduced a Cheeseburger Bill back in Decmeber or because Alfred wants to eat muffins all day long. It is hardly a major concern comparatively.

We are barely keeping debate going on the five or six serious bills we got up now. If this bill generates discussions and interest, who gives a damn.

Plus my OSPR amendment, and the Primary bill will be off the floor tonight. The Second CIFA will be at vote and the Third one can be tabled if that passes. That means four of the 10 bills currently in the queue will be on the floor by this weekend.

None of which will be in this slot. The FPR doesn't need one or goes in the Foreign Policy Slot once it is open. The ILV amendment is Forum Affairs, both slots are currently open.

Vote on Motion to Table The National Muffin Act:

Aye (4): Alfred F. Jones, Clarence, Sbane and Scott
Nay (3): ILV, NC Yankee, and TJ in Cleve
Abstain (0):

Didn't Vote (2): Nathan and Pingvin99

With two thirds of those Senators voting, having not voted in the affirmative within the 48 hour time limit, the motion to table has not been adopted.

Title: Re: SENATE BILL: The National Muffin Act (Debating)
Post by: Southern Senator North Carolina Yankee on April 28, 2012, 06:52:48 AM
A motion to table offered on the grounds of "not wanting to expend time on a lower priority", only works if the damn thing passes. For if it does not, the people proposing it become complicit in engaging in advancing the exact opposite of what they claim to desire. They have waisted time and delayed more important things.

Or to put it another way, EPIC FAIL. :P

Now get your asses in these threads and do your jobs.

I oppose TJ's amendment, if that's what 'sponsor feedback' is. I have a general dislike of sneaking things into bills when you should really just have the courage to put it as a separate bill.

I would hope that the title of the act is changed, but I am fully supportive of TJ's amendment. I think it was completely sense to change the names of the airports from conservatives Senators on here despised to liberals. This is Atlasia, if anything, the airports should be named after Atlasians.

Actually, that being said, I'd encourage a Senator to instead provide an amendment changing the airports to popular former Presidents, rather than liberals or conservatives people liked. That's a compromise, and would put this long issue to rest.

I usually post it on the page that the vote begins on. Unless the bill hasn't been amendment or is only 2 pages long. I also post it after I close the vote so the President knows what he is signing and the right text is entered into the Wiki.

This has enough votes to fail, Senators have 24 hours to change their votes.
