I think he would have in a better position with the party and in a better position to win with independents and women.

He would've swept the primary without a doubt, though I would never see him beating Obama.

Romney could easily hit him from the right on economics.

Like everyone else, I think he'd win the primaries, but end up beaten by Obama. I do think that Huckabee would do better than Romney in the general.

Actually, I don't think Huckabee would have done well in the primaries.  Huckabee would have been just another flavor of the month, and not a particularly strong one since I don't see him as having been able to win the Tea Partiers or immigration fanatics to his side.

Huckabee would be doing better in NC and OH.  Is IA a swing state?  If so, there too.  Maybe PA and VA as well.

Romney is better in FL and NH if NH still matters.

So Huck would be slightly better positioned against Obama, yes.

Maurice Clemmons would have become a household name during the primaries.

Huckabee would've been the better Primaries candidate. Romney is the better GE candidate. Give it a couple months and I predict Romney will have hit a nice groove.

Add to that Huckabee holds heterodox views on the environment, immigration, and taxes. He never would have made it through the GOP primary this year. He would have been a flavor of the month, but he couldn't have made it all the way.

The thing with Huckabee is that he isn't even a Bush Republican. He's a Dixiecrat on the Republican side. His appeal is with religious conservatives rather than the Tea Party. I doubt 2012 was the best year for him to run, even if he did run.

I think he would have a better chance than Romney in Ohio and possibly Iowa.  Romney has an advantage over Huckabee in New Hampshire and Pennsylvania, but I doubt he'll get either.
