Voted option 3.

Option 3.  Also, I like how the article defending the proposed amendment doesn't even cite its frivolous "studies" and falls back on weak, superficial arguments to support its position.  But then again, I have yet to hear a logical case for why the government should control peoples' lives like this.

I would vote against the amendment, and support gay marriage.

'Mailed in my absentee ballot Thursday. Even though I don't support gay marriage, I just thought voting against it was the right thing to do.

I would oppose the amendment, but I am still mixed on gay marriage. Its the states right to decide the issue, none the less.

Despite my personal opposition to gay marriage, I would vote against this amendment as it goes too far.  Also, like Sanchez, I believe that it should be the states deciding the issue -not the Supreme Court.  And in any case, this argument over federalism is moot -the Supreme Court in its current makeup will not legalize gay marriage, even less so if Romney wins the White House along with a Republican Senate.

Because human rights should depend on where you live.

I would vote against Amendment One because I believe that all people are created equal and are entitled to equal protection of the law. Amendment One (and all attempts to ban same-sex marriage) fundamentally conflict with American values.

I agree-a ban does conflict with American values. American values come from the Constitution. Where in the Constitution does the Federal government regulate homosexual marriage? Nowhere? Well, then its the states decisions. Its the people of North Carolinas choice, not mine, nor anyone in DC.

I don't understand why someone would oppose gay marriage and still vote no. Unless they oppose a Constitutional amendment to ban it.
