He's not that dumb. I assume part of it will be to subsidize premiums, so fewer are uninsured, meaning lower medicaid expenses. Whether it all hangs together in a creditable way remains to be seen.

The alternative being to cut spending which is unlikely given Massachusetts being under total Democratic control presently.
I don't see what the problem is. Isn't the Democratic economic stance that tax increases on the rich are outright beneficial? Mitt is shedding his old, moderate skin and emerging as the Second Coming of Reagan. Of course he needs to sacrifice something dear to him; he needs to kill any traces of his liberal past to ascend to a higher plane of existence.
