First Term for Kennedy. 1961.
Kennedy reluctantly gives air cover to the CIA anti-Castro forces. 3 months later Castro is overthrown by anti-Castro and is put in front of a firing squad. Batista returns to power in late 1962.
1962.
Kennedy places Bobby Kennedy and L.B.J. in charge of building new civil rights legislation. 03/11/62 Kennedy calls for the elimination of the poll tax in the Deep South and to replace it with the Voting Rights Act. L.B.J. with some arm twisting helps push it through the Senate and House on 29/03/1962. Vietnam continues to be a problem in Southeast Asia. There are over 30,000 advisors now in South Vietnam. Diem is still assassinated in November of 1963. LeMay and Taylor are asking Pres. Kennedy to use massive bombing on North Vietnam to bring the war to an end. Pres. Kennedy is privately is considering the nuclear option on the North in order to end the war and reach a settlement with North Vietnam. This is not popular with either Bobby or Lyndon.

Despite the Bobby Baker Controversy, Pres. Kennedy affirms in Houston, T.X. that he is behind Lyndon 1000 percent and that he will be vice-president for another term with no competition. On the way to the Dallas Trade Mart Kennedy/Connally and Johnson/Yarborough switch vehicles as a security precaution. As Mr. and Mrs. Kennedy and Mr. and Mrs. Connally drive through elm street. The car behind them carrying Mr. and Mrs. Johnson and Senator Yarborough burst into flames and the car explodes into a fiery blaze. 3 hours later, the Dallas Police find out that a bomb and several sticks of dynamite were planted in the car that the Kennedys were supposed to be driving in. L.B.J. and Sen. Yarborough pass away instantly. Lady Bird is severely burned and is blind for the rest of her life. The President, the First Lady, John Connally, and Nellie are completely unharmed. On Nov. 25 the Kennedys return to Washington with the Connallys for the funeral of Lyndon Johnson. Connally weeps frequently as he reads the eulogy. Pres. Kennedy also gives a strong speech in memory of the late Lyndon Johnson. Despite strong criticism from many party leaders John Connally is chosen Vice-President by Pres. Kennedy and is approved by the Senate and House. Vice-President Connally will run with Pres. Kennedy for the Democrat Nomination for the White House in 1964.

Fmr. Vice-President Nixon makes a major announcement. Ladies and Gentleman I'm here today to announce the formation of a political action group called Republicans for Kennedy/Connally. I find myself much more in agreement with Pres. Kennedy and Vice-Pres. Connally than I ever will with Senator Barry Goldwater. I have not left the Republican Party the Republican Party has left me. I will also for the first time be attending the Democratic National Convention in Atlantic City, rather than the Republican National Convention in San Francisco. I have not a doubt in my mind that this great nation will be in much better hands with Pres. Kennedy leading this nation and Vice-Pres. Connally than it would ever be with Barry Goldwater in the White House.

The Gulf of Tonkin Controversy still occurs. At 24:00 hrs. Eastern-Standard Time on 03/08/64 Kennedy orders the Air Force to drop a nuclear bomb on North Vietnam to win the Vietnam War and defeat the forces of Ho Chi Minh. Northern Liberals are extremely angry with Pres. Kennedy, yet many Southern and Western Conservatives praise Pres. Kennedy and Vice-Pres. Connally. Kennedy and Connally are renominated on the first ballot at the Democratic National Convention. Kennedy announces at the Convention that we have achieved Peace through Victory in Southeast Asia. On 30/09/64 Pres. Kennedy announces that the communist advance in Vietnam has been crushed; furthermore, Pres. Kennedy announces that within the next 90 days all remaining military personnel and advisors will be withdrawn from South and North Vietnam.

At the Republican National Convention Barry Goldwater is nominated and chooses Governor Scranton of Pennsylvania as his running-mate. Ronald Reagan crucifies Nixon for his defection to the Democrat Party. Goldwater believes the choice of Scranton will help him appeal to independents and GOP moderates. Govs. Romney and Rockefeller declare neutrality in the upcoming Presidential Election. Eisenhower declares active support for the nominated ticket. Fmr. Democrat George Wallace speaks of the rise of ultra-liberalism and racial socialism in the National Democratic Party.

In order the counter-balance the criticism that Pres. Kennedy has received for using nuclear force to end the Vietnam Conflict. Kennedy signs into the New Frontier Health-Reform law which creates Medicare and Medicaid. It passes both the House and Senate by close margins. Pres. Kennedy with active support from Attorney General Bobby Kennedy, also signs into law the Fair Housing Act of 1964.

It bans and outlaws segregation and discrimination in all places of learning, means of transportation, and public facilities. It also contains a controversial affirmative action placed in the bill by Senator Humphrey and Majority Leader Mansfeld.

At the 68' Democratic National Convention at the Astrodome in Houston, Texas five minutes are held for prayer in memory of Johnson and Yarborough. The first day of the convention Connally promises the position of Agriculture to George McGovern, Transportation to George Meany, and Secretary of Education, Health, and Human Services to Leonard Woodcock liberal leader of the UAW. Pres. Kennedy speaks of the great strides in improving healthcare, new civil rights legislation, strong economic growth, and lasting peace and military victory in Vietnam and Cuba. He and his brother the Attorney General pledge their full support for Vice- Pres. John Connally for the next Democrat President of the United States. George McGovern withdraws his candidacy and also pledges his support for Connally in the general election. Connally chooses as his running-mate recent Democrat and Secretary of Defense Richard Nixon as his running mate. Connally in his acceptance speech attacks GOP Nominee Reagan on many fronts. He speaks that if radicals like Reagan and Rockefeller are elected only fascism and socialism will reign supreme in America, if Reagan is in the White House 1000 more Vietnams will start a mile down the road with no end in sight, he blasts Reagan's views on Civil Rights and Healthcare, and attacks both Rockefeller and Reagan for the high crime rates in their states, and for divorcing their wives for younger women. Connally's speech is very negative, but the speech draws much applause from all wings of the Democratic Party. On a final note, he only wishes that L.B.J. was on this stage with him.

October of 1968 is a political bloodbath. Connally and Nixon run several extremely negative and controversial televison ads against the Republican Nominees. One shows images of terminally ill seniors and children with leukemia and cancer while Connally says that Democrats care about these poor people 365 days a year while Republicans do nothing to ease their suffering, another shows members of the KKK burning crosses and tying nooses around trees while the back of the white shrouds read Reagan/Rockefeller in 68', and the final add shows a little girl picking the petals of a daisy while the countdown to an atom bomb detonation is spoken and the background behind the little girl shows 1000s of little mushroom clouds. At the end of the final ad Attorney General Robert Kennedy solemnly says vote for Vice-Pres. Connally because the stakes are too high for each and every one of you to vote for Reagan. Reagan and Rockefeller both attack Connally and Nixon as being morally and ethically unfit for the White House and to lead this country. Reagan accuses the Democratic Party of character assasssination of him, his family, and his running-mate. Reagan accuses Nixon of political treason and states that he and Rockefeller are the beacons of integrity, new leadership, and hope for America in the coming decade.
