Option 2

There's no 'actively relieved but still not happy' option.

Relieved.

Probably somewhere between 1 and 2. I went with 1.

Even though I'm voting for Mitt Romney, i have to choose Option 1 if nothing more than that's the optimist in me coming out.  I don't have a whole lot against Obama, and I think he could do well (or not any worse) than the first four years.  He will be a lame duck for the majority of the second term (as Reagan, Clinton, and Bush were during theirs), but he will be free of having to run for re-election again, so he can focus 100% on governing for 4 years.

In between 1 and 2

Combination of 2 and 4, as would be my reaction to a Romney victory.

Angry/Mad

Relief, probably.

Though it's a weaker emotion than if someone else won the Republican primaries.

Upset/afraid

Relieved; he's not perfect but he's not Romney.

Relieved, we won't have a banker in the WH.

True, Romney's a banker; Obama's just one of their tools.  (Look at who bankrolled him in the Senate and in 2008.)

Not sure how anyone could be hopeful, considering how underwhelming the last 3 1/2 years have been...

I'd be disappointed and upset, but not to the point of rage. I'd be more unhappy that Romney lost than that Obama won.

Option 2,

I don't have that much of a problem with Obama. I prefer Romney, but Obama isn't the end of the world for me. I'm honestly comfortable with either of them being President.

I'm assuming that everyone who voted "Hopeful" is under the age of 21 and not working. 

Its great to be naive and believe in idealism and hope, whatever that vague term means. 

Or maybe hopeful means creating a vast government safety net for the unemployed, the uninsured, and anyone with huge student loans. 

Talk about borrowing more to pay for more government programs, and mortgaging our future. 

Bemused by the histrionic, paranoid, screaming-bloody-murder reaction the Tea Party would have. I honestly think some of them might actually riot...I mean protest (rioting is what it's called when non-whites do it, after all).

Relieved, hopeful for some real liberal reforms

It is a bit offensive you expressing such sympathy, Torie - they're being screwed by your class, not Obama, Torie.

I for one would feel very happy, as I don't expect he will win.

More relieved than anything else since Mitt Romney won't be occupying the White House...

Well you think everyone is being screwed by my class (and no doubt screwing each other in the process, so basically screwing everyone), so that kind of shuts down much further discussion. It like discussing religion.  I am trying to get a bit more granular here. I will leave the grand unified theorists such as yourself to do the really heavy lifting. I am more of a micro kind of guy.

A combination of these two, but more the former.

Depends on what happens in Congress. If Obama takes the House with him I would actually feel hopeful especially if the Democrats buy some Bawls at their local store and not repeat 2009-10. If he doesn't take Congress with him though I would feel some relief but will also feel option 2.

Option 2

Nothing ever changes.

Eh, cowardice and filibusters would still get in the way of things. The Republicans will be more united than ever with filibusters with Snowe gone.

Disappointed, probably not watch the news for a week.  Take out frusteration by working out, go for a jog, or something.
 

I have a feeling that in the Republican leaning states, the sales of anti-depressants will go up if he wins.

Takes time to visit the doc to get a prescription.  Sales of alcohol will likely go up.

Indeed, watch the prescription drug numbers around December.

Pay special attention to places like California, Illinois, and New York. Those people will be the most depressed come December.

Option 4, but i'd be Option 3 if Willard Mittens Romney won.

I'm genuinely not. There's no particular reason why those states should be the most depressed following Obama's reelection specifically even if you are using 'depressed' as an awful pun.

Tsk, tsk, Nathan. You need to brush up on your Fox "News" hack-speak. He's obviously assuming a Mittens win. You see, California, New York, and Illinois are all Democratic words, and reality is reversed in right-wing grammar. It's in the textbook, page 349. There's a little box labeled "Red States/Blue States and How To Avoid Them".

I'd feel more like "oh boy, here we go. This ought to be an unpleasant adventure." but it depends on if Republicans keep the House and win the Senate.

In any other thread I would have seen that he's assuming a Mittens win, but considering the eventuality explicitly being addressed in the title of this thread it threw me for a loop. I forgot about the reversal of reality and teleological suspension of the merely logical.

Depressed and angry.

I hope if that does happen to hide out doing some busywork-type of homework instead of sleeping. If that happens I will be way too angry to sleep that night anyway and should at least try to get something productive done in the process.

I went with two. I doubt Obama will govern well during a second term, but I don't think he can get much worse.  I don't think that Mittens will be better and might be actively worse if he intends to govern the way he says he will. I can't get too frightened about Romney's crazy-talk though, because I do believe he is patently insincere and capable of telling people anything if he thinks it will benefit himself.
