Post by: Tender Branson on August 01, 2012, 07:18:27 AM
thanks to immigration:

End-2011 population: 81.843.743
End-2010 population: 81.751.602

Total growth: +92.141

2011 births: 662.712
2011 deaths: 852 359

2011 natural decrease: -189.647

2011 immigrants: 958.156
2011 emigrants: 678.949

...

Of course, the 2011 Census results will be released in November and it is estimated that the population is actually closer to 80 million rather than 82 million, because there have been many people in the registers in the past 25-30 years that either moved abroad without de-registering in their home towns, or moved within Germany without de-registering or simply died. This should be especially the case in Eastern Germany after the fall of the Wall.

Probably because other Europeans are moving there, with it being the only safe haven in the Union.

Isn't the Turkish population in Germany growing as well? That's what I've been hearing, at least.

And now I want to hear someone speak German with a Turkish accent.

Wrong.

Probably because other Europeans are moving there, with it being the only safe haven in the Union.

Right.

Here's how Germany's 2011 immigration balance (immigrants from a country, minus emigrants to the same country) looks like for individual countries:

+66.000 Poland
+36.000 Romania
+22.000 Bulgaria
+17.000 Hungary
+14.000 Greece
+12.000 Spain
+10.000 Italy
  +8.000 Afghanistan
  +7.000 Russia
  +5.000 Latvia
  +5.000 Lithuania
  +5.000 India
  +5.000 China
  +5.000 Iran
  +4.000 Kosovo
  +4.000 Iraq
  +4.000 Slovakia
  +4.000 France
  +4.000 Czech Republic
  +4.000 Pakistan
  +4.000 Syria
  +3.000 Holland
  +3.000 Portugal
  +3.000 Ukraine
  +2.000 UK
  +2.000 Brazil
  +1.000 Serbia
  +1.000 USA

   -1.000 Austria

Not in any effective or relevant sense.
