Title: Former President Bill Clinton vs Governor Mitt Romney
Post by: Warren 4 Secretary of Everything on August 07, 2012, 05:53:08 PM
In comparison to the Romney-Obama matchup, how would former President Clinton be doing right now if Obama gave him the nomination? And let's say to further build a Midwestern Democratic Coalition and strengthen him in the south, he chose Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer as his running mate. My Guess:
(
)
Clinton-Schweitzer: 452
Romney-Whoever: 86

That wouldn't even be a fair matchup.

It's complicated. Clinton's approval ratings are impressive, but the process of becoming the nominee would hurt him with Republicans and Independents.

That said, I think he'd do as well as Obama did in '08.

As a slightly different "What If," had Romney beat Kennedy in '94, he would have been in a position to run against Bill Clinton in '96.
