Title: Genesee County, MI Post by: Oldiesfreak1854 on September 30, 2012, 07:26:42 PM I asked this question about Michigan in another thread and got nothing back, so I thought I would ask it here. How, in 1960, did Genesee County vote for Nixon over Kennedy? And how did the Republican candidate for governor, Paul Bagwell, carry it as well? If unions were as strong in Genesee County then as they are now, then it should have voted Democratic by margins similar to how Macomb County voted around that time. Any answers?

Akron in Summit County, Ohio, had even more. It's likely that anti-Catholic voting may have occurred in both counties, as Kennedy narrowly won Summit County.
